Jean-Baptiste Maudet is a French geographer and writer born in 1976. He teaches at the University of Pau; His research focuses on cultural geography.

His novels have received several awards. After a doctorate in geography, he conducted research in cultural geography.  In 2018, his first novel Matador Yankee was awarded the Orange Book Prize. His second book Des humains sur fond blanc won the 2021 Brise-Blade prize.
His books explore the geographical imagination, echoing his work as a geographer
