About Convento Inn
> About Convento Inn
Convento Inn is a characterful property steeped in royal history. The Inn is set in a convent dating back to the 16th century, perched on a clearing overlooking the fertile lands of the Leziria and the Tagus River.  With everything you would expect in a countryside retreat, it exudes a feeling of serenity and wellbeing.

The building itself is quite unusual. The style is an unconventional narrative resulting from a mixture of Antiques and Modern Art set within the timeless simplicity of the convent structure, to create an elegant space that is both charming and unusual. While each and every suite is distinct, all feature comfortable beds, warm and soothing décor, antiques, unique art and some suites also include fireplaces.  All Accommodations are located on the first floor, accessible through a flight of stairs.

There are 4 Suites with private bathrooms on the north wing and 2 bedrooms sharing a bathroom located in a private corridor of the west wing.  It can accommodate 8 people, with a maximum occupancy of 12 under special occasions.

We offer a daily maid service, and there is also a pantry stocked with homemade cookies, fruits, coffee and tea freely available to all guests.  Shoe shinning and laundry services are available upon request.  Wi-Fi access is limited but available free of charge, throughout the property wherever the structure of the building and the thickness of the convent walls allows.  There is no Television at the property.

The collection includes both rare, vintage and new books, with genres ranging from art and literature to history, poetry, science and biographies, among others.  You can find books written  in English, French, Portuguese, Greek and Spanish.
A portrait of Mme. Maria Raquel painted by the renowned Portuguese painter Eduardo Malta watches over the serenity of the place, giving us a glimpse of the beautiful lady who found the ruins of the convent, while out for a stroll with her son Miguel.
An artist at heart, Raquel dedicated her last years to the recuperation of the Convento, transforming it into a loving home for her family.  Miguel, has inherited his mother’s love for the Convento and maintains her dedication to this wonderful place, making it possible for Convento to remain a refuge  for artists and travellers alike.
On the shelves we also find many volumes belonging to the private collection of Eng. Carlos Amaral Netto, her husband, who was a respected and dedicated statesman for most of his life.

In the garden you will find a huge variety of plants with many colourful flowers, aromatic herbs, beautiful cedars and olive trees, among others.
We have a little plant and tree nursery as well as  several centenary trees surrounding a field of wild flowers.
Our garden is bee friendly and we observe the philosophy of permaculture. In our orchard, there are lemon and orange trees, apple and peach trees, figs and plums, among others.
Guests are welcome to delight themselves on the ripe fruit they can pick straight from the trees, when in season.
